Dealing With Difficult Interview Situations When You Have Little Work Experience
There is nothing worse than being called into an interview when you know you do not have enough experience to be considered for the job. This may become a very difficult situation for anyone who desires to work for a company, but their work and industry specific experience are somewhat slim. How does one deal with performing well at an interview when they are aware that their work experience may disqualify them from the applicant race?
As with all interviews, preparation is vitally important if you wish to make a great impression. You may lack the necessary experience, but that does not say that you lack the zeal to do the job. Go into the interview with your best foot forward. Warmly greet the interviewer as you enter the room. Greet him or her with an equally warm and pleasant smile. Make your entrance and start impressing right away.
Allow the interview to progress by question and answer. Answer each and every question honestly. It helps to smile while doing so. When your interviewer addresses the fact that you have little experience in the field in which you're applying, kindly ask for a minute or two to speak on the matter.
This is where advance preparation comes into double play. You will have prepared in advance what you will say to the employer to possibly encourage him or her to call you back for a second interview although your experience is inadequate. If you have extraordinary abilities to learn quickly, highlight this first. Show him or her that you are a person worth investing in. Discuss your power of reason and your ability to devise new ideas. Give examples in your limited work history that will further encourage him or her to accept you back for a second interview.
Your goal is to get through this seemingly difficult situation without getting fazed or too upset because of your limited work experience. Be enthusiastic about the job you are applying for and speak about what motivates you to seek out the opportunity to work for the company. At all times, be confident in yourself. You should be convinced that you can accomplish the tasks set out for the job. Your goal is to convince the interviewer. Your interviewer will appreciate your honesty and your wholehearted confidence and enthusiasm for the job. Do not allow the fact of your limited work experience to get you down. With proper preparation and the right amount of enthusiasm and confidence you should be able to win over your prospective employer and get the job.
