The job field of Holiday Representative is a fun and exciting career. Holiday representatives get to meet a wide variety of people, and typically work in beautiful resort environments. They are assigned to take care of vacationers on their resort property, ensuring that their stay is pleasant.

Holiday representatives are primarily customer service professionals. Their role includes greeting the customers as they arrive and taking care of any special requests the guests may have. They should quickly resolve any issues that arise regarding the guest's room, activities or service.

Holiday representatives are often responsible for organizing and selling excursions and tours that appeal to resort guests. They may keep and publish regular schedules of tours and excursions, making visiting the local sights easy for clients. They may even act as a tour guide for these excursions. They may also keep tickets on hand for local sights and tourist attractions for the benefit of their guests. Holiday representatives should be extremely knowledgeable about the tourist spots in the area, and should be able to answer guests' questions. They should also be able to recommend restaurants and shopping for their clients, and be aware of any special events going on in town that might be of interest to guests.

Holiday representatives are also responsible for scheduling entertainment for the resort. They may book local bands, musicians, dancers and comedians for guests' enjoyment. They may organize games; contests and activities to make their guests' stay more enjoyable and encourage guests to meet each other.

Holiday representatives are the first line of contact for a guest when they have a problem or emergency. They may be called upon to deal with medical emergencies, or help customers who have been robbed or lost their cash. The holiday representative should have the knowledge required about local resources to give these guests accurate information, and they must be able to handle such emergencies in a calm and helpful manner.

Holiday representatives are not typically required to have a college degree, but it is advantageous if you have completed some coursework in event planning, travel studies or hotel management. The ability to speak a foreign language is also preferred, as is sales or tour guide experience.

Holiday representatives should have an outgoing personality, and genuinely enjoy being with people. They should have enthusiasm regarding their resort and the activities and sights surrounding it. They should be willing to help customers with and go above and beyond the call of duty to see that customers are happy.

Holiday representative jobs are fun filled and offer candidates the ability to travel and work in beautiful surroundings. There are typically more candidates interested in these jobs than there are jobs available, so competition is stiff. Often, holiday representatives work for resort companies, and may be transferred from resort to resort, causing them to be away from their families for long periods of time.
