Psychometric Testing is a term that is used to define occupational testing and employee assessment. There are a selection of tests that are now used widely to assess the character strengths and weaknesses of each potential candidate. This data provides employers with an accurate profile of each candidate determining their suitability for a position within the hiring organization.

Psychometric tests are becoming a widely used part of the selection process. There are two specific types of testing that is performed with candidates.

• Personality Profiles, which create a profile of your personality and personal characteristics.

Psychometric testing is generally performed at the beginning of the selection process, as it is an effective screening tool within the costly recruitment process and will determine suitability and compatibility early on. Having said that depending on the type of position you are seeking, some employers prefer to go through the interview process and use the psychometric testing to confirm their own impressions.
They are never used in isolation and will always be combined with your interview before a final decision is made.

More and more employers are using psychometric testing to avoid the difficulties experienced in placing the wrong candidate in employment. Given the legal implications involved in the termination of contracts in today’s world, it is little wonder that employers are looking for tools that can accurately predict a candidate’s suitability. Research has proven that psychometric testing is an accurate and reliable method of doing just that.
